UPDATE – September 2025

Following the sale of the site, we are delighted that as a result of your community action, we have prevented an unsuitable housing development.

You can influence what happens next by coming along to our next PUBLIC MEETING. To be held on Saturday 27th September 2025 at 4pm, in the London Road Congregational Church Hall.

The opinion of LASSIPCO hasn’t changed since this community organisation was formed. The Lilley and Stone School site was always intended to benefit the young people of Newark and Balderton, under the age of 25 and NOT to line the pockets of Developers. It is vital that proper consultation takes place with the community affected by any future development.

Saturday 15th April 2023 – Public Meeting – 4pm to 5pm – London Road Congregational Church Hall. Guest Speaker architect Cara de Angelis.

Saturday 18th February 2023 – Public Meeting – 4pm to 5pm – London Road Congregational Church Hall. Guest Speaker Paul Baggaley, Newark Sports Association.

Thursday 9th February 2023 – Public Meeting – 8pm to 9pm – London Road Congregational Church Hall.

Sunday 29th January 2023 – Stop the Attack on Nature ‘Bulldoze the Bill’ Public Rally – 1pm start at the Newark Library Garden, proceeding past the Lilley and Stone site, to reach YMCA Newark (where local MP, Robert Jenrick, has his office) at 2pm for speeches. Alternative start point at Heron Way Car Park, Balderton at 1:30pm.

Saturday 28th January 2023 – Breathe Community Fundraising Event at the Duck Newark – featuring live house and garage DJs – 8pm to 3am. Tickets available via Fatsoma (all proceeds to LASSIPCO).

Saturday 19th November 2022 – Public Meeting – 4pm to 5pm – London Road Congregational Church Hall. Guest Speaker Adam Cormack, Local Environmentalist.

Thursday 17th November 2022 – Public Meeting – 8pm to 9pm – London Road Congregational Church Hall. Guest Speaker Jane Harrison, Chair of Newark Civic Trust.
